Planning a Meaningful Farewell at Temple Fields
Arranging a funeral can be an incredibly challenging time for families, filled with deep emotions and several important decisions to make. At Temple Fields, we understand the weight of this responsibility, and our heartfelt mission is to make the planning process as smooth and stress-free as possible for you and your loved ones. Below, you’ll find valuable information to help you prepare for a service that honours your cherished memories while providing a peaceful environment for reflection.
Service Options Tailored to Your Wishes
You can hold the entire service at our serene burial ground, creating a deeply personal experience. Alternatively, you can opt for a traditional service that concludes at Temple Fields, allowing for a meaningful transition to the final resting place. Ultimately, the choice lies entirely with your family, and our compassionate staff members are here to support you every step of the way, ensuring that all your wishes are honoured and accommodated.
Embracing an Eco-Friendly Burial in a Beautiful Setting
We offer two stunning areas for burials: our tranquil woodland and vibrant wildflower meadow. These natural settings provide a personal approach to farewells, allowing families to select and reserve burial and cremation plots that befit their loved ones. We believe every plot should hold a special significance, and we are here to help you find the perfect resting place.
As a natural burial ground, we emphasize eco-friendly practices to honour the environment. This means we can only accept biodegradable and environmentally friendly coffins, made from materials such as bamboo, banana leaf, cardboard, unvarnished pine, and willow. Your funeral director will guide you through these options to ensure a fitting tribute that aligns with your values.
Woodland Burial Site
Our Woodland Burial area is our most popular option, allowing loved ones to be laid to rest under or beside a native memorial tree. Graves can be arranged side by side or at double depth.
The Woodland Burial area begins at our main car park and extends into our natural wildflower meadow, where you can see wildflowers in bloom from spring onwards.
Over time, the woodland will mature, creating a shaded canopy that will support the growth of woodland flowers such as bluebells, foxgloves, snowdrops, and other native species. We maintain mown paths year-round to ensure safe access to all plots within the cemetery.
Please note:
- Planting season runs from November to March.
- Tree choices depend on availability and the surrounding trees near your chosen plot.
- Kindly contact the office or cemetery warden to confirm your tree selection.
- A small stone or oak plaque can be placed in front of your chosen plot, or you may opt for a larger ground-level plaque to mark the grave.
Wildflower Meadow
Our Wildflower Meadow offers burial plots and family ashes plots in a setting that changes with the seasons, enhancing local biodiversity. From spring to autumn, the meadow blooms with a variety of flowers, providing a haven for wildlife and our resident bees.
This area is ideal for those who wish to return to nature in its simplest form.
Graves can be arranged side by side or at double depth. While memorial trees and raised plaques are not permitted in this area, ground plaques can be provided to mark graves.
Cremation Plots
Should you choose cremation, we offer the option to inter ashes within the grounds. Ashes can be buried in various areas of the cemetery, depending on the number of plots required.
We have designated two copses specifically for the interment of ashes, where families may select a native tree and opt for a memorial plaque in remembrance of their loved ones.
Additionally, family ashes plots, accommodating up to four individuals, are available in our main woodland and wildflower meadow.
Ashes Scattering
The scattering of ashes offers a simple way to reconnect back to nature. Ashes may be scattered within the designated area along the periphery of the cemetery, adjacent to the Warwickshire Wildlife Trust boundary.
*Please note – Plaques and memorials are not available in this area of the cemetery*
Visiting Temple Fields
Flowers and Tributes
Families are drawn to Temple Fields for its natural beauty and unique ambiance, distinct from that of a conventional cemetery. In order to preserve this setting, we request that all tributes and floral arrangements are kept to a minimum.
Visitors are welcome to leave natural, freshly cut flowers on graves throughout the year. These are respectfully removed and composted once they have wilted. However, as a natural burial ground, we maintain strict guidelines regarding what may be placed on graves to protect the surrounding environment.
Permitted items include:
-Natural, freshly cut flowers tied with string or straw
-Single-stem roses
-Petals
-Natural, hand-made wreaths without wire or plastic, and fully compostable
-One small handmade memorial item, such as a painted stone, placed at the base of the plaque plinth or memorial tree
The following items are not permitted:
-Plastic or glass vases or jars
-Flowers arranged in oasis or florist foam
-Cellophane or plastic wrapping
-Painted, dyed, or glittered flowers
-Potted plants
-Plants with roots or seed buds that may germinate on graves
These prohibited items can be harmful to local wildlife. Any tributes or flowers that do not comply with our guidelines will be removed and stored safely in the second field.
Please ensure flowers are laid flat to protect the soil and the growth of wildflowers.
