Arranging a funeral can be a stressful time, which is why we want to ensure the planning process is as seamless as possible. Below, you will find information on planning and preparing for a service at Temple Fields Cemetery, such as the various options we offer and how to go about arranging a service.

Types of Service:

You may wish to hold the entire service at our burial ground. Alternatively, you may wish to have a traditional service which ends at our burial grounds. This is completely up to you. Natural burials encourage a personal approach. Please note that the site is an open field and there are no covered areas for inclement weather, but you may hire out a marquee if you wish. Please discuss this with your funeral director.

If you choose a natural burial, the casket will need to be made of natural, biodegradable materials. These include: shrouds, cardboard, wicker & woven, woollen & cotton and sustainable wooden coffins. Your funeral director can help you source a suitable casket. Please note that plots are reserved on a 150-year lease.

You have the options of two meadow burial areas, where native trees can be planted as a memorial. To view our native tree list please click here.

Scattering Ashes:

If you choose to cremate your loved one, you may scatter or bury their ashes within the perimeter of our woodland plot or within two coppices formed in the middle of
the site.

For the Service:

Your service is entirely up to you and your personal preferences. Your funeral director can help with organising the service. Click here to see a list of useful contacts, such as funeral directors, local venues and florists.

For more information, please contact the Temple Fields Cemetery custodian, Paul Cureton, on 01564 779531 who can arrange a site visit and is the point of contact for purchasing or reserving a plot. For all other queries, please discuss with your funeral director.
